High Liner Foods Inc. is a Canadian seafood company that packages and sells seafood to restaurants and institutions under the High Liner, Icelandic Seafood, and FPI labels, and to individual consumers as Fisher Boy, High Liner, Mirabel, Sea Cuisine, and C. Wirthy products. Founded in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, it is the largest such seafood concern in North America, serving markets in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

History

The company was founded on December 12, 1899 as W.C. Smith & Company, a salt fish operation located in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. It was founded by five brothers, Captain Benjamin Conrad, Captain George Abraham, Captain William Charles, James Leander, and Lewis H. Smith. In 1998, National Sea became a division of High Liner Foods. In May 2003, the company's fish processing quotas and nine trawlers were sold to a consortium headed by Clearwater Seafoods Ltd.
